It acts as the focal point and center for networking for members and assist in promoting the interests of its members through regular technical meetings, seminars and conferences and visits to manufacturing plants and industrial sites, etc.

Export Development Board (EDB)
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB) commonly known as the EDB is the apex state organization responsible for the development and promotion of exports. The SLEDB is recognized and commended for its invaluable service rendered for the export community to drive the growth of the country’s exports.
EDB is the executive arm of the Export Development Council of Ministers, which is the policy-making body of the EDB. It is headed by H.E. the President of Sri Lanka.
EDB takes the leading role in improvement of export performance of Sri Lankan products and services through international trade fair participation to facilitate B2B promotions and organizing inward and outward buyer/seller missions. It also organizes local trade exhibitions to bring the exporters and buyers together.

The Plastics Export Promotion Council
The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCOUNCIL),sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce, Government of India, represents the exporting community in the Indian Plastics industry.
The export promotion strategies evolved since 1955, the year when PLEXCONCIL was born, have fetched rich dividends, which is exhibited in the form of high export growth rates. From a meager export turnover of 16.5 million US Dollars worth of exports in 1955-56, the exports from the Indian plastic industry has reached over 7.2 billion US Dollars in 2012-2013 and is poised to well exceed the Four billion US Dollars mark in the near future and has targeted to reach 10 billion US Dollars by 2015-2016.

Annual plastics consumption in Sri Lanka is close to 250,000 metric tonnes, with an estimated growth rate of 18-20%. Around 1000 factories are engaged in plastics processing for both domestic and international market, the bulk of them being in SME sector.
